DIY Liquid Laundry Detergent
One of the exciting things I learned to do recently is how to make my own laundry detergent!
I grew up with sensitive skin and it turns out my daughter is sensitive too, so I figured this was a great reason to reduce the toxic load in the house. It’s super simple and easy to make, and yes, it’s safe in HE washers!
All you’ll need is:
1 cup castille soap
1 cup baking soda
1/3 cup rock salt
7 L Hot Water
20 drops dōTERRA essential oils (I love On Guard and Purify)
Heat 2-3 cups of water until almost boiling. Remove the water from the heat and slowly whisk in the salt and baking soda. Keep whisking until they are well dissolved.
Fill a two-gallon bucket with the remaining water, leaving room for your soap mixture and so that it doesn’t splash out when stirring. Add castile soap mixing gently so that you don’t create a lot of suds. Add 20 drops of the essential oils of your choosing and again stir gently.
Pour your mixture into your storage container(s). Old detergent bottles are a great option, as are 1L Mason jars (these are great for sharing too!).
Use the same amount of oil as you normally would in your machine.
