DIY Deodorant
I have been looking for a DIY deodorant recipe that works.
My first was baking soda, water and oils. It was OK, but I had to reapply a couple of times throughout the day.
Next, I tried apple cider vinegar. <– Do not do this, I literally poured it down the drain. This pained me as I don’t like to waste my oils.
I searched until I found another recipe that called for magnesium oil. Magnesium oil isn’t really an oil, it’s magnesium diluted in water. Magnesium oil is a mineral salts and these have been used for many years as a natural odor blocker.
Magnesium oil also has other great health and relaxation benefits, check out Dr. Axe’s article on magnesium oil here: https://draxe.com/magnesium-oil/
In a glass spray bottle, add:
2 oz magnesium oil
5 drops Ylang Ylang
3 drops Clary Sage
2 drops Geranium
2 drops Frankincense
2 drops Grapefruit
Clary sage is a great oil for women, geranium is known for odour control (which is funny because I think it has a bad odour!!), frankincense is great for the skin, grapefruit is to offset the clary sage and geranium and ylang ylang is my favourite so of course I added it! 🙂
Note: Be sure not to apply magnesium oil to freshly-shaven skin, as it may cause irritation.
Try it yet? Let me know what oils you used!
